Introduction to the Vice-chancellor for Research and Technology
The Vice Presidency for Research at the University began operating independently in 2002 following the separation of educational and research responsibilities into two independent vice presidencies. In 2011, in line with the reorganization of the organizational chart for medical universities in Iran and approval from the then Board of Trustees, the Vice Presidency for Research was renamed the Vice Presidency for Research and Technology. Currently, it encompasses management for the development and evaluation of research, medical informatics, health technology development, university scientific journals, research institutes for health and metabolic diseases, research centers for metabolic diseases, social determinants of health, cancer gene therapy, pharmaceutical nanotechnology, drug biotechnology, and applied pharmacology.
The main library, comprehensive research laboratory, animal laboratory, and clean room are among the significant research facilities and infrastructure available at the university.

In the perspective of Iran 1404, Zanjan University of Medical Sciences and Health Services aspires to become a leading, authoritative, innovative, and entrepreneurial institution in research and technology, playing a significant role locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally in the fields of health sciences and addressing fundamental health issues in society.

The mission is to formulate policies, plan, and direct research and technology in the health sector to meet community health needs and expand the boundaries of knowledge. This is to be achieved by leveraging human capital, existing capacities, and new technologies, ensuring maximum quality and efficiency.
